Gibraltar in a nutshell
- Money: the Gibraltar pound, at par with sterling. UK notes and cards are fine, and euros are widely taken, though the exchange rate isn't always good.
- Plugs: UK three-pin.
- Border: no routine passport checks at the land frontier since July 2026. See Getting here.
- Language: English is official. You'll also hear Spanish and Llanito, the local mix of the two.
- Weather: the Levanter, an easterly wind, can sit a cloud on top of the Rock while the rest of town is sunny.
