By air or on foot from Spain, it's easy, especially now that there are no routine passport checks at the land border.

What changed in July 2026Under the UK–EU treaty on Gibraltar, routine passport checks at the land frontier ended on 15 July 2026, and you can now walk straight through. Arrivals from outside the Schengen area are checked at the airport and port instead. Carry your passport or ID anyway, and remember that customs rules on goods like tobacco and alcohol can still apply.

The terminal is right by the frontier. Walk south along Winston Churchill Avenue towards town, or take a taxi from the rank outside (about 5 minutes). Citibus 5 and 10 also run from the Frontier terminus into town. Arrivals from outside Schengen may be checked by both Gibraltar and Spanish officers, so allow extra time.

  1. Walk through the frontier. There are no routine passport checks since July 2026.
  2. Cross the airport runway along Winston Churchill Avenue. Cars use a tunnel, but people on foot still cross the runway, and barriers close for a few minutes when a plane lands or takes off.
  3. Carry on south towards Casemates and Ocean Village, then west to EuroCity on Europort Avenue. You can also hop on Citibus 5 or 10.

Coaches from Málaga, Seville and Algeciras arrive in La Línea de la Concepción. The station is a few minutes' walk from the frontier: follow the signs for Gibraltar / Frontera, then the route above. Check current timetables before you travel.

🚕 Taxi

Gibraltar taxis: +350 200 70027. A short hop in town is roughly £6–10approx.
